Mechanic is doing truck wheel alignment at IBEX Diesel Repair

Heavy-duty commercial trucks drive hundreds of miles each day. Over time, these lengthy journeys may cause your suspension and steering to become misaligned. Misalignments may not seem like a huge issue at first, but they can actually cause a lot of damage. From uneven tread wear to stress on your steering and linkages, the repair bills will start to add up. Fortunately, aligning your truck is not a time-consuming task. Here at IBEX Diesel Repair, we’ve designed our alignment processes to be as efficient as possible. You won’t be waiting around our shop for hours on end, for we’ll provide you with an appointment and an accurate ETA that you can plan your day around.

Symptoms of Truck and Trailer Misalignment

If your suspension is misaligned, there are plenty of symptoms you’ll likely experience. Firstly, if you need to hold your steering wheel at an angle in order to drive straight, you’re almost certainly misaligned. This indicates a problem with your steering assembly and typically occurs after an accident. Other common symptoms include a vibrating steering wheel at high speeds, uneven tread wear, and pulling to one side when trying to track straight.

How often should I get an alignment?

Most manufacturers will recommend you get an alignment every 40 thousand kilometers. However, you may need to get one earlier if you’ve been in an accident, changed your tires, had a tire blow out at high speeds, or are noticing uneven tread wear.

What are the benefits of a proper alignment?

The benefits of a proper truck and trailer alignment are quite nice. First of all, a proper alignment will lengthen the lifespan of your tires by preventing uneven tread wear. You’ll also see your fuel economy increase, for your truck is no longer trying to pull to one side. Other benefits include increased handling and less stress on your steering and suspension components.

Ibex repaired my 2005 Freightliner MT55.  I limped it into the shop, and they were able to diagnose the issue and repair it as soon as the parts arrived (getting parts these days can be a challenge).  The truck has several other issues I need to resolve, and if I am back in the Rexburg/Idaho Falls area, I would certainly do business with Ibex again.

Excellent communication and customer service.  They were able to diagnose our issue quickly, and gave us a quote to know what to expect. The rate for what we did repair was reasonable and seems to be in-line with other shops in the area.
