Components That Need Preventive Maintenance

Heavy-Duty Diesel Engines

In order for your heavy-duty diesel engine to run properly, it needs both oil and coolant. Your engine oil is responsible for lubricating the various moving parts within your engine, and your coolant is responsible for absorbing and dispersing heat. Over time both of these fluids break down and need to be replaced. If you’re in need of an oil or coolant change, give us a call, and we’ll book you in for service.

Transmission and Differential Fluid

Your transmission and differentials both need fluid in order to lubricate their moving gears. Since your transmission and differentials don’t get nearly as hot as your engine, their fluids don’t need to be replaced at the same rate. Most manufacturers recommend you change your transmission and differential fluids once every 60 thousand miles, but depending on your towing and hauling habits, that interval may change.

Suspension

Your suspension is full of components that need preventive maintenance. First, your bushings and bearings will eventually wear out over time. By replacing them before they do, you’re reducing the chance of an unexpected breakdown. Secondly, you should also be inspecting your suspension on a regular basis for rust damage and rust coat it when necessary.

Ibex repaired my 2005 Freightliner MT55.  I limped it into the shop, and they were able to diagnose the issue and repair it as soon as the parts arrived (getting parts these days can be a challenge).  The truck has several other issues I need to resolve, and if I am back in the Rexburg/Idaho Falls area, I would certainly do business with Ibex again.

Excellent communication and customer service.  They were able to diagnose our issue quickly, and gave us a quote to know what to expect. The rate for what we did repair was reasonable and seems to be in-line with other shops in the area.
